Your child is invited to take part in a research study a three day mindful social media fast.
What the study is about: This study is exploring the effects of a mindful social media fast on dancers’ self-esteem.
What your child will be asked to do: Your child will complete an anonymous pre- and post- survey regarding their self-esteem in several areas. This will take approximately 10 minutes each time. Your child will also participate in text-message group shares for the three days of the fast with peers also participating in the fast.
Risks and benefits: There are no anticipated risks to your child if he or she participates in this study, beyond those encountered in everyday life. The benefits of participating may include discovering other ways of interacting with the world that your child may have ignored while interacting with social media platforms.
Taking part is voluntary: Your consent and your child’s participation in this study are completely voluntary. Your child can withdraw from the study at any time without consequences of any kind, and you can withdraw your consent at any time without consequences of any kind. On the surveys, your child is free to skip any questions without penalty. Participating in this study does not mean that you are or your child is giving up any legal rights.
Your child’s answers will be kept confidential: The records of this study will be kept private, and individual data will only be accessible by the researchers. Any report of this research that is made available to the public will not include your child’s name or any other individual information by which your child could be identified.
