SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A cheerleading coach at a private gym in Scottsdale has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse, kidnapping, sexual conduct with a minor, and assault.
Yohel Gattaz, 21, was arrested on June 16. According to court documents, Gattaz allegedly molested two girls who were 14 years old or younger.
Parents say Gattaz coached at Desert Storm Elite Cheerleading in Scottsdale. Court documents show he had been working as a commercial driver for Auto Zone for a month when he was arrested.
According to court documents, the incident happened at Gattaz’s home near 11th Avenue and Vineyard between January and March.
One of the two victims told police Gattaz tried to have sex with her, even after the girl apparently told him, “this isn’t right, this is illegal.”
The other victim told police she tried to “roll away” from Gattaz but court documents say Gattaz allegedly grabbed her and pulled her back to him.
The owner of Desert Storm Cheerleading refused to comment and hung up when contacted by 12 News.
Gattaz’s bail has been set at $150,000.
